Season to begin June/July
The Balkan Retreat realised that Covid and its disruption to normal life means an opportunity! We have decided to take the global pause as a time for investing further in our project, to improve the overall quality of our location for future guests and collaborators. We are therefore undergoing a major renovation project of our guest accommodation for the first half of the season. We hope to be open for guests and projects from June or July onwards! Please look at the maps below for directions. Google doesn't think our road is connected to the main road and tends to take your car on a hiker's route in the forest! For a less adventurous journey, where you won't get stuck, we recommend you study the maps below or get in touch. Follow brown road signs to Bešenovo Monastery and we are 100m from the monastery.

✼ We are just 15 minutes off the Zagreb - Belgrade motorway (E70/A3)
✼ There is plenty of room for parking.
By public transport:
✼ There are bus connections from Zagreb and Belgrade
to Sremska Mitrovica.
✼ Trains also from Zagreb and Belgrade (not from the airport).
✼ Buses run several times a day from Sremska Mitrovica to our village, Bešenovački Prnjavor, and stop right outside our house (last stop).
✼Taxis can be picked up outside the station
✼We can pick you up from Sremska Mitrovica, subject to our availability.
